About James Hetfield

James Hetfield is an American musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist.

As the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the well-known heavy metal band Metallica, James Hetfield amassed notoriety and wealth. He and drummer Lars Ulrich are both founder members of the band. Most people agree that Hetfield is the best rhythm guitarist in heavy metal history. James isn’t the wealthiest member of Metallica as of right now. Lars Ulrich’s astute art and real estate investments have made him the richest member of Metallica to date.

In 1981, James and Lars got together over a newspaper ad and started the band. Cliff Burton played bass and Dave Mustaine played lead guitar after a while. Mustaine’s dismissal from the group in 1983. Kirk Hammett took his place. Cliff Burton was the founding bassist for the group. Sadly, Burton lost his life in a tour bus accident in Sweden in 1986. Jason Newsted took Burton’s place and remained with the group until 2001. Robert Trujillo took Newsted’s seat.
